BTech girl jumps off third floor, survives with fractured legs. New Delhi: April 1. DHNS: Suicide note says she was stressed over her studies. Depressed over her poor academic performance, a second- year Delhi University student tried to commit suicide by jumping off the third floor of her college building in North Campus on Monday. Police have recovered a suicide note. The girl, who lives with her family in Haryana’s Faridabad district, is a BTech student of SGTB Khalsa College. She survived the jump, but suffered fractures in the legs and spinal cord. Police said they were informed after college principal Jaswinder Singh rushed her to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital around 1 pm.“She was later shifted to the Sushrut trauma center, where her condition is stated to be out of danger,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma. Eyewitnesses told police that the girl had jumped from the third floor of the computer block. CCTV cameras captured the incident and shows students rushing to help her. Singh was also informed. He then personally took the girl to hospital. Police, however, were informed by the hospital authorities. A police team later visited the college and recovered a two- page suicide note in which the girl mentioned that she was under stress over her academic performance.“She was apparently depressed over the way she was faring in her examinations. In the suicide note, she stated that she was depending on her friends for her studies. Her family members were informed about the incident,” another police officer said. Singh, however, told police that she had scored 7. Police are waiting for the girl to be declared fit by the doctors to record her statement. The investigating officers have questioned her family members, who have denied involvement of any foul play. Currently, police have recorded a daily diary entry, and analysed the call data record of the girl’s mobile phone. Her classmates and friends have described her as a competitive student.
